Title:

Interpretable Decision Tree Ensemble Learning with Abstract

Argumentation for Binary Classification

Abstract:

We marry two powerful ideas: decision tree ensemble for rule induction and abstract argumentation for aggregating inferences from diverse decision trees to produce better predictive performance and intrinsically interpretable than state-of-the-art ensemble models. Our approach, called Arguing Tree Ensemble, is a self-explainable model that first learns a group of decision trees from a given dataset. It then treats all decision trees as knowledgeable agents and lets them argue with each other for concluding a prediction. Unlike conventional ensemble methods, this proposal offers full transparency to the prediction process. Therefore, AI users are able to interpret and diagnose the prediction's output.

Title:

A Telemonitoring and Tele-rehabilitation Platform for Disable

Elderly, and Post-stroke Care:An AI and Human-Machine Technology-Enhanced Approach

Abstract:

This talk presents the significant role of AI and human-machine technology in enhancing care for disabled, elderly, and post-stroke patients. Our research addresses the unique challenges faced by these vulnerable populations by providing continuous monitoring, personalized rehabilitation programs, and recommended care. The presentation will cover two key research projects conducted by the ICT Department at AIT. The first project focuses on a critical issue faced by disabled and elderly individuals in Thailand and many developing countries, the increased risk of falls when staying home alone while family members are at work. To address this, we develop a telemonitoring platform for fall detection, activity profiling, and alerts by integrating computer vision, video analytics, WiFi
technology, and deep learning. The platform can send emergency alerts to family members or caregivers when a fall is detected. Additionally, it employs analytical techniques to assess fall incidents and activity profiles, supporting healthcare professionals and caretakers in preventing future falls and recommending safe, quality lifestyles and suitable physical exercise programs. The second part of the talk will focus on stroke rehabilitation, an essential aspect of recovery after a stroke. We will discuss our researchon a telerehabilitation platform for post-stroke patients, featuring Bimanual Rehabilitation Robotic Arms. These robotic devices assist impaired arms in performing repetitive motions to regain strength, coordination, and function. Furthermore, the platform integrates human-machine interfaces and gamified rehabilitation programs, applicable in both clinical and home-based settings, along with remote consultations to promote patient motivation, continuous rehabilitation program implementation, and progressmonitoring.
