About NII

Conclusion of International Exchange Agreements or MOUs

To promote energetic, systematic international exchange with overseas universities and research institutions, the NII concludes International Exchange Agreements (MOUs). As of July 2017, it had concluded MOUs with 104 organizations in 25 countries/regions (97 research cooperations and 7 development/operational cooperations). To promote the sending of researchers and students abroad and the acceptance of researchers and students from organizations with which it has concluded MOUs, the NII implements the NII International Internship Program and MOU Grantprograms and provides financial aid. It engages various other exchangeactivities as well, including joint research projects, seminars and symposia, in addition to researcher and student exchange.
