Students who wish to enroll in the Informatics program must undergo a preliminary consultation with the faculty member under whom they wish to study. We request that applicants to this program undergo a preliminary consultation well in advance of submitting their application.

Purpose and Objectives

Preliminary consultations are extremely important, as they allow applicants to select their desired advisor and receive the advisor's guidance and advice on the research they plan to conduct after enrollment.

These consultations provide a valuable opportunity for applicants to obtain information such as whether they can receive guidance from their desired advisors, whether their desired research content is appropriate, how to develop their research plan, and how to prepare for the entrance exam and enrollment. In the event there are other advisors who are more suited to the applicant's desired research, applicants can also be referred to them.

Further, the process helps faculty members gain an understanding of applicants' research interests, personal characteristics, and background knowledge, and devise research guidance plans.

Format

There is no fixed format for preliminary consultations. They may be conducted via email, video call, or face to face, as accommodates the individual circumstances of the applicant and faculty member.

Consultation Period

We accept preliminary consultations all year round. However, as applicants are required to state their desired advisor's name and research content in the entrance exam application documents, it is advisable to undergo the preliminary consultation as soon as possible once you are seriously considering applying to us.

Contacting Us

Please feel free to contact the faculty member with whom you wish to have your preliminary consultation by email or other means. You may seek preliminary consultations with multiple faculty members, but in this event, please inform the respective faculty members that you are doing so.

Searching for Advisors

Go to the "Advisor search" page and, using research keywords or other means, select the advisors whose fields are related to your desired research topics and check their areas of research and guidance.

Miscellaneous
