Overview of admissions

Informatics Program, SOKENDAI offers several enrollment options for international students who are seeking to obtain a Ph. D. degree.

General Admission

General Admission is for both Five-year and Three-year Doctral Programs. SOKENDAI Informatics Program has admission in April and October and conducts entrance exam as follows. The examinations for those entering in April: In summer (late-August or early-September) or in winter (late January or early-February). The examinations for those entering in October: In winter (late January or early-February) or in summer (late-August or early-September)

General Admission

Special Admission for Applicants Residing Abroad

"Special Admission for Applicants Residing Abroad" is for both Five-year and Three-year Doctral Program for applicants residing abroad. The interview is administered via internet, thus applicants need not to come to Japan for the application and the exam.

This is for both Five-year and Three-year Doctral Programs. SOKENDAI will recommend for the MEXT Scolarship academically outestanding individuals who are considered to be in need of a scolarship.

This is for Five-year Doctral Program. SOKENDAI International Priority Graduate Program is inviting applications for the MEXT Scolarship to provide outstanding international studentes with an opputunity to pursue doctral degrees through our academic program.

Embassy recommendation process for MEXT scholarship

This is for both Five-year and Three-year Doctral Programs. Scholarship recipients are recruited and initially screened by a Japanese embassy (or consulate general, depending on the country). Because the application process differs according to the country in which the Japanese embassy is located, please inquire at the Japanese embassy or consulate general in your country for details. The students who passed the initial screen first enroll in a non-degree program of SOKENDAI Informatics Program, and then apply to our graduate program through the General Admissions System.
