Measures Needed to Further Improve the Journals

Originality of topics in AI special issues
  • Each issue will publish peer-reviewed articles from Japan and abroad in allergy-related areas on a special theme. Priority will be given to the dissemination of research outcomes original to Japan, and articles on the following types of themes have been published thus far. Citations of these articles in influential international journals have been increasing.
     Th17 and allergy
     Drug-Induced Hypersensitivity Syndrome (DIHS)
     Japanese cedar pollinosis
We intend to put even greater emphasis on this sort of original research and consolidate AI’s standing in the world.

Boosting submissions from outside Japan – AI

  • Since the introduction of an online submission and review system in 2008, submissions from outside Japan have been on the rise. Innovations to the editorial process are being planned with a view to further enhancing our international profile. Calls for submissions from foreign researchers will also be made directly at international symposia and elsewhere.

Expansion of the AI online journal site

  • The aim is to create an online journal site that will instill confidence and attract new readers and authors. Information needed by potential authors will also be upgraded and made more readily understandable to link it to submissions.

Responding to the needs of JSA members with diverse content for the Japanese Journal of Allergology

  • In addition to manuscript submissions from members, the journal includes feature articles—such as “allergology lectures for medical specialists” and a “one-point explanation of guidelines”—aimed at members from the different specialties that form our society’s constituency. Contributions describing the society’s history as well as other information relevant to an institutional journal are also included. In the online journal, each issue will present content by our editorial board and publish comments and calls for manuscript submissions.

Promotion to Authors to Further Increase Submissions

Welcoming submissions to AI
  • Articles published on our online AI journal site are all accessible free of charge; there is also no publication fee. In addition, the online submission and review system cuts the review process time in half and makes it possible for the editorial staff to deal with submissions rapidly. While most submissions are from members, manuscripts from non-members are also widely accepted.
