Implementation of Carieer Information Service (NACSIS-CIS)

In order to compile “Union Catalog of Serials in European Languages”, NACSIS carried out a survey covering university libraries throughout Japan between November 1, 1997 and March 31, 1998.

NACSIS has been providing the “NACSIS-CIS (Career Information Service)” since May 20, 1997.
This service collects information on calls for scholars from Japanese organizations such as universities, junior colleges, colleges of technology, etc., and makes it available to the public, both in Japan and abroad, via the World-Wide Web. Information from these organizations on calls for applications is added to the database as soon as it is received. It can be accessed by anyone who wishes to from the NACSIS-CIS home page.

    NACSIS-CIS home page: http://nacwww.nacsis.ac.jp/index-e.html
There is no charge to use the service, and no registration is required.
The following search methods are available.

    - Keyword search: Allows the user to search by field, subject, etc.
    * At present most of the records are available in Japanese only.

  2. Usage status (current as of July 31, 1998)
Since the service was first made available, it has been used by a large number of persons, as shown below. It is our hope that usage will continue to increase in future.

    * Records are deleted when their deadlines expire.
    (2) Number of computers accessing the service (cumulative): Approx. 230,000
