The report of the third party review committee, which met between October 14 - 17, 1997, was issued in February 1998.

Building on the conclusions of the External Evaluation Committee, which was convened in June 1996, the committee aimed at examining and evaluating the work of NACSIS, especially its R&D activities, from an international perspective by taking into account the views of specialists and experts from overseas.

The members of the third-party review committee are Dr. Walter Engl, Professor Emeritus, Rheinishe Westfalische Technische Universitat Aachen, Germany; Dr. James Flanagan, Vice President, Research, Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, U.S.A.; Dr. Bjorn Pehrson, Chairman, Department of Teleinformatics, Kungl Tekniska Hogskolan, Sweden; Dr. Brian Perry, Former Director, Research and Development Department, British Library, U.K.; and Dr. John Pierce, Visiting Professor of Music, Emeritus, Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics, Stanford University, U.S.A.

The report (in English) has been issued together with a Japanese translation and has been distributed to research institutions and university-related organizations in Japan and abroad.
