This version is more useful than in book form in that it has many retrieval functions and it contains both Japanese and foreign serials. However, the data is rather old and a new issue has been requested.

In 1997, we will publish a new CD-ROM version that runs under Windows, whereas the old version ran under MS-DOS. Now, we introduce some unique functions of the new CD-ROM as follows.

1. Functional summary

   (1)Browse Serials:

   You can browse a list of serials on display similar to in book form. And you can look further information window(that contains bibliographic and holding data) by pointing serials.

   (2)Select Serials:

   You can select serials of browsing window by specifying words or codes contained in the serials.

   (3)Select Holdings:

   By specifying volumes or years of the serial, you can select holding data of further information window.

   (4)Title Change Map:

   You can see title change information in graphical map window. By pointing serials in this map, you can easily look further information of the serials.

   (5)Select Libraries:

   By preselecting holding libraries, you can limit serials of browsing window.

2. Operating system The new CD-ROM will work under Windows 3.1 J(Japanese version), Windows-NT J or Windows95 J.

3. Number of records The new CD-ROM will contain about 220,000 serial data, and 3 million holding data of 1,200 libraries in Japan.
