New IR Trial Release

The information retrieval system,which is an open systems (new IR system) will start trial release soon.An outline of this trial release is given beliw.

  1. Usage
    (1)Service time
    In principle, the service is available Monday through Sunday, 24 hours a day. However, operation may be interrupted if needed, since it is a test service.
    (2)User qualification
    All users of the current information retrieval system (NACSIS-IR) can use the test service.
    (3)Connection method
    1)Connection via Internet (For the time being, only this method is available, however, other connection methods will be added in sequence as the test proceeds.) As the telnet command, specify the following address:
    IP address
    157.1.51.3
    2)Select 1. (NACSIS-IR) on the initial menu.
    (4) Changes of retrieval commands

    End Stop
    (5) Available databases
    There are 8 databases which can be used during the test service as listed below.
    ¥ Doctoral theses retrieval database (GAKUI)
    ¥ Economic documents retrieval database (KEIZAI)
    ¥ Academic magazines indices prompt report database (SOKUHO)
    ¥ Magazine articles retrieval database (NDLJPI, ZASSAKU)
    ¥ 'Ishin' historical material summary database (ISHIN)
    ¥ NDL scientific conference proceedings database in western languages (NDLPROC)
    ¥ American Center Library's consolidated catalog database (ACCAT)
    ¥ Large-size collection directory (OGATA)

  2. Schedule
    Formal service of the new IR system is scheduled to start from March 1997. Details will be announced separately. (Database section)
