The NACSIS-ILL Request Function with the National Diet Library

The request function of copying, borrowing and renting documents from the National Diet Library (NDL), which has been requested since the beginning of the NACSIS-ILL service, officially started on March 17, 1996. This service enables the member libraries of NADSIS-ILL to issue requests to the National Diet Library, which used to be made by mail or fax .

The benefit for the National Diet Library is that the requests can be received with correct data such as consolidated catalog database and JPMARC data; this reduces the document search workload and allows request handling such as preparation of vouchers and slips to be computerized. At the inauguration of the new service, an opening ceremony and demonstration were given at the National Diet Library, celebrating the success of the first project under the cooperative agreement between the two.
