Ceremony and Celebration To Commemorate Completion of Computer Wing

The construction of the Computer Wing, which may be described as the very heart of NACSIS and which now functions as the Chiba Annex, was recently completed in Inage-ku in the city of Chiba. A ceremony and celebration to commemorate the structure's completion was held on Friday, January 13. The 3-floor reinforced concrete structure has a building area of 1,449 mFD and an extended floor space of 3,714 mFD. Included among its rooms are the computer room, disk room, terminal room, network room, operator room, and test and research room. The new wing will help NACSIS to expand its facilities with the objective of developing business in the future.

The ceremony was attended by 130 or so representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture, NACSIS, organizations related with NACSIS, and the celebration was held following overview of the Computer Wing.

The celebration held in the evening was attended by those individuals who had contributed to the development of NACSIS in bygone days. Its close marked the end of the day of commemoration.
