In general: Quantum Information Theory, Quantum Optics, Nonlinear Fiber Optics,
Classical and Quantum Theory of Optical Solitons.
In particular: Quantum Information Processing using Linear
Optics, Quantum Communication Protocols and Entanglement for Continuous Variables.

[Education] 


- study of physics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg; diploma there in 1997;
diploma thesis on the Theory of Quantum Non-Demolition Measurements
with Optical Solitons.
- 1998: Ph.D student in the Quantum Optics and Information
group of Prof. Samuel Braunstein at the University of Wales, Bangor/United
Kingdom; Ph.D thesis on Quantum Communication with Continuous
Variables in 2001.

[Career] 


- September 2001 - December 2003: postdoc in the Quantum Information Theory Group
of Dr. Norbert Luetkenhaus at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
- Since February 2004: Research Fellow at NII.
