On March fifth 2010, Professor Guenter Mueller as a NII visiting professor has received the "Ehrenkreuz erster Klasse", a decoration with medal, for services rendered to science and arts. The Austrian consul general, representing the Federal President of Austria, has awarded this distinction to Professor M?ller in Munich. A major reason for this award are Professor Mueller's contributions to the area of open computer networks.
