New Release of Databases

1. Description of Service

The "Current Contents of Academic Serials in Japan" database, which contains bibliographic information on articles published in academic journals, started service on Tuesday November 1, 1994. The "Database for Scientific Studies on Cultural Properties," which contains bibliographic information on articles on scientific analyses and measurements using cultural properties in Japan, and the "Chemical Education Database," which contains bibliographic information on articles appearing in "Chemistry and Education," the journal of the Chemical Society of Japan, had previously started service on Friday July 1, 1994. Brief details of these databases are given below.

1.1 Current Contents of Academic Serials in Japan

  1. Sources
    Bibliographic information on original papers, commentaries, and other articles appeared in the academic journals of universities and other organizations participating in the formation of this database.
  2. Coverage and Number of records
    The latest data available at the time that each organization participated in the formation of this database. There were approximately 6,000 records at the start of service, and this has increased everyday.
  3. Main Items
    Title, author(s), affiliation, journal title, volume, page, year of issue, etc..
  4. Use of Database
    Calling Command is "SOKUHO"
  5. Note
    This database was formed and put into service with the cooperation of the universities and scientific associations and other organizations that published these academic journals.

1.2 Database for Scientific Studies on Cultural Properties

  1. Sources
    Bibliographic information on articles on scientific analyses and measurements using cultural properties in Japan.
  2. Coverage and Number of records
    Bibliographies published up to 1990. There were approximately 13,000 records at the start of service, and this has increased by approximately 2,000 records every year since then.
  3. Main Items
    Title, author(s), journal title, volume, page, codes, etc..
  4. Use of Database
    Calling Command is BUNKAZAI
  5. Note
    This database was created by the Japanese Society for Scientific Studies on Cultural Properties, and was put into service with the full cooperation of this organization.

1.3 Chemical Education Database

  1. Sources
    Citations (with abstracts) of articles published in "Chemistry and Education," the journal of the Chemical Society of Japan.
  2. Coverage and Number of records
    Currently contains data from 1977 onward. There were approximately 3,000 records at the start of service, and this has increased by approximately 1,000 records every year since then.
  3. Main Items
    Title, author(s), affiliation, volume, page, year of issue, abstract, etc.
  4. Use of Database
    Calling Command is "CHEMEDU"
  5. Note
    This database was created by the Chemical Society of Japan, and was put into service with the full cooperation of this organization.

3. Service Charges

Each call to a database: Yen 30

Note that expenses relating to usage are issued each month as a total usage charge for all databases, with 3% consumption tax added.
